Full featured insulation testing multimeter
The AMB-45 has met and exceeded my needs in a insulation testing meter. It has just the right features that compliment the testing that do on bus duct and switch gear.The high volt and low ohm features go hand in hand with this type of meter and the memory and record feature that lets me download to my computer is just brilliant . This meter comes with everything I needed and at a very reasonable price.

I enjoy the timer function that allows for easy cable testing or hands free operation. The built in volt and ohm meter lets me to quick safety checks with one tool prior to megging. I’ve also tested the output several times and it is within 1v of the stated output every time. The battery also has decent usage life, although I’ve never used it for more than a hour or two at a time.
I’m a real user / electrician NOT someone paid to post product feedback.

Very good tester.
I really like the ease with which this tester can be used. It make insulation testing very easy. I had one at my previous employer and when I switched companies this was the first test instrument I purchased.

Purchased this product for a large industrial food plant. I liked the features and ease of use. The down side of it was, there were no instructions on exactly how to use the features, when testing a 480vac system the meter read 345vac (lower voltages were more accurate), does not always turn on when the dial is turned on. We have 15 electricians on 3 shifts running 24-7, how do I communicate these issues accurately? For these reasons I would not recommend this product.

Needs two features
Two improvements:
1. Expand range of ohmmeter so I can use it as a full range ohmmeter.
2. for the cost of the tool and accessories, I would have preferred a plastic case (pelican) that can protect the meter as it rides, and bounces in the back of the truck. The cloth case provide no protection.
Everything else is as I expected and I’m happy with the purchase.

Use almost every day!
I’m an industrial electrician by trade and have been using amprobe products personally for years. Recently, we had a problem with another brand megger and switched to amprobe. This thing can take a beating! We have had helpers drop it and still not the first issue. If you need a new megger, I would highly recommend.
