Well made, and does a great job.
The title says it all. In particular, the receiver has a wide range of adjustability along with a high-resolution LED display, both of which allow making subtle distinctions in tricky wire tracing situations, e.g. multiple cables in close proximity to each other. A beep accompanies the detected trace signal, which is nice when you have the receiver shoved in a space where you can’t see the display.
The only feature missing is I wish Amprobe would provide a simple battery pack for situations in which one needs to power the transmitter in a de-energized circuit. As it is, you’ll need to juggle 9v batteries and clip leads to make this happen.
One thing to keep in mind is this tool is NOT the choice for tracing open wires where a circuit cannot be completed. You won’t be able to power the transmitter. Amprobe has other testers for this kind of tracing.

This is the best tool I own
This Tool has saved me countless hours of work. I recently was working on a occupied remodel. Since the building was occupied I was not able to shut off circuits so this tool made it possible for me to turn off the correct circuit with no worry of shutting off someone’s computer. I will and have recommended this to many people

One of the Better Tracers out there
From my experience with this product…it is best for identifying circuit wires at a panel, in a junction box, or in an outlet. Not conducive for actually tracing out a path behind walls, underfloors, etc. Set up the transmitter at a point ‘A’ and ID with receiver at a point ‘B’. Great for that; no so much on following a path.

An excellent tool that is a real life saver
Over the years I have found this tool to be very accurate as well as durable. I have used it to locate breakers with excellent results. I have also used it to trace along MC Cables to determine there paths. If I were replacing this tool, I would buy the same one again.

Hands down best circuit tracer on the market
I have used numerous circuit tracers over the last 20 years in the field, without a doubt this is the best live circuit tracer on the market. I have spent the last 15 years working in hospitals and medical research facilities where you absolutely cannot afford to make a mistake when tracing circuits. This unit has proven to be 100% accurate every time. It has never failed me and it is one of the first tools I purchase when going to work for a new company. I purchased my third unit recently and it is worth every penny.
