Excellent – full featured multi-meter – Great Price too!
I use this instrument on a daily basis when I visit various com rooms to repair radio equipment. I measure 48 VDC power, temperature, capacitance and decibels. All I need is this and a laptop, and what a back saver!
✔ Yes, I recommend this product.

Great value for the price
This is a very capable meter in all areas that count. The build quality, safety (both for personal and equipment), and features are above and beyond for a meter in this range. I use it for electronics, but it works well for basic industrial use as well. The 4-20ma feature is only for reading percentage of the current state of the process loop, but its quick and spot on accurate. It does not send a 4-20ma signal though. If you need that, then look to a process control meter instead.
It’s build plenty well for use out on the floor though and the holster is more than adequate for physical protection. The screen is clear and easy to read with a good contrast in regular room lighting.
It’s auto range speed is above average and wont annoy the user with long wait times. The included accessories are very helpful and well made. The magne clip is quite nice and useful.
It’s biggest drawbacks is its size and the current jacks. It’s quite large, but not to heavy. It just takes a bit of getting used to. The current jacks work fine, but are a wee bit lose fitting for the probes. I’ve tried several brands of premium probes and all of them just feel a bit lose in those jacks. None have failed to function or fallen out though, so I don’t think its a real problem.
In short, the 38XR-A is a real winner of a multimeter and is one of the best in its class for its price. I would and have gladly recommended to others.
✔ Yes, I recommend this product.

Very capable meter
I have used this meter for at least 5 years in the HVAC industry and it has served me well. However, it has always been susceptible to moisture in the lead jacks which renders it inoperable until 100% dried out. I can’t r really fault it for that but my other meters have never had that problem and they are in the rain right next to it. The back light stays on for a very short period, which is rather annoying. But other than that it has taken a lot of abuse and always come back for more. The death stroke came when the hot lead jack broke from it’s solder joint. It had an average life for a multi meter in my trade.
✔ Yes, I recommend this product.

The first one was so good, I bought another one
I purchased a 38XR-A meter about 4 years ago to use at work. I use it in an industrial environment, building and repairing machinery. This is a full-featured meter that has stood up to hard use here, and I have been well satisfied. The price is considerably less than an equivalent Fluke meter too. I chose the Amprobe because of my good experience with my 37XR-A meter that I bought for home use about 6 years ago. When I needed one for the work toolbox the company wanted to buy me a Fluke, but I told them to save their money, because I like this one better. Another young electrician here is currently looking for a good meter, and I told him to buy this one.

Excellent Choise
I received this instrument as part of the compliment of tools required for my job. I have used it for all my troubleshooting needs while working on police interceptors, and motorcycle electrics. It worked nicely for 48V battery stacks, industrial automation, and our photovoltaic enterprise too. I have been using the Amprobe 38XR-A for a while now, IT is very Rugged, accurate, and reliable AND still looks like new.

Good so far
I have had limited need of my meter since I bought it. It seems, so far, to perform as I hoped it would. The temperature probe is a plus for me, but simply as a “tech toy”. I plan to use it when it is either really cold, or really hot. Just to see what the temp. is in my specific work environment at the time. That being said, I am satisfied with my purchase.
✔ Yes, I recommend this product.
