Description
Amprobe’s newest wire tracer combines a Receiver and powerful Transmitter to locate energized and de-energized wires, breakers, and fuses without having to disconnect any equipment. The Receiver features four tracing modes optimized for a range of applications. Its fully automatic breaker tracing capability saves time and eliminates the confusion of multiple false positives by detecting the highest recorded signal in a breaker or fuse. The Transmitter utilizes two optimized frequencies that allows for a clean and reliable signal. The Signal Clamp can be used in applications where there is no access to bare conductors by enabling the Transmitter to induce a signal into a wire through insulation. Whether you’re a novice user or an expert, the AT-6000 Amprobe Advanced Wire Tracer kit will help you get the job done fast.

The features on this product are easy to read and easy to understand
There isn’t a day goes by that I don’t use this unit. I do a lot of digging around energized lines and with my old unit I have had wrong readings and in my scope of work if The energized lines are not marked correctly it can be disastrous to the plant unit if I would hit a energized line not to mention could kill the operator and crew around work area. With this unit I trust it 100% and so does the crew. Where ever it tells you to mark for the line it has never failed to be on the spot best system I ever used.

GOOD JOB AMPROBE!
TIME IS MONEY. I’m not a contractor or a certified electrician. However, I worked as a gaffer (chief lighting technician) for 28 years on hundreds of TV commercials and a few movies as well as toured on the 1980 Van Halen tour as a master electrician. These experiences clarified one vital belief; time is money.
Today, I have a home with five rooms listed on AIRBnB. Sometimes a guest will blow a breaker in their room, and my biggest challenge was the manhours and torment it would take to trace a circuit to the room. I set a goal to map and label each circuit in my home to its breaker, which I was hoping would save me time mapping rooms to breakers. To complete this goal, I tried recruiting friends or neighbors to help using walkie-talkies to communicate, and after a few hours they would politely excuse themselves, and my mapping project never completed.
Several years ago, when I was at a Home Depot, I picked up an Ideal tracer which I was hoping would be a less painful experience. Unfortunately, the Ideal Tracer never worked. A few years ago, I found the Mastech Wire Tracer at an electrical supplier, which, cost more and took a ton of time trying to understand the directions. Unfortunately, like the Ideal, the Mastech didn’t deliver. Bummed that I couldn’t find an easy solution, and never completed my goal.
Unfortunately, my circuit tracing journey took me back to a two-person walkie talkie solution until a friend told me about Amprobe launching a Wire Tracer (AT-6030) kit. I found a 6030 kit on Amazon (heads up! they’re expensive & hard to procure). However, after spending a few hours reading the QUICK START GUIDE, watching YouTube videos and doing a few tests in my basement, the tracer truly performed. Blown away how easy it is to trace items in my home to its correct breaker validated the cost and allowed me to finish the mapping project myself.
I then labeled each breaker and its corresponding light, appliance and receptacle in my home using a Brother, label maker. With the ability to map a circuit to its breaker, I now have an idiot proof electrical map which helps is solve most of the electrical struggles in my home.
BTW I haven’t used the Amprobe Tracer enough to evaluate all its functions. However, I am pleased the pain is over, and I can trace a circuit myself in less than five minutes. After sharing my success with those same friends and neighbors, I tried recruiting now want to borrow my Amprobe Tracer to map their homes. I decided to rent the tracer to them, and it will more than likely pay for itself in less than a year. Good Job Amprobe!

Pleasantly suprised
We always used greenlee and ideal circuit tracers. They were ok, got the job done. One day the shop truck sends put an amprobe circuit tracer. To be honest I wasn’t happy when I saw it show up. It wasn’t a company I had much experience with and you get comfortable with what you’re use to. Well it was all we had so we gave her a shot. MAN!! Was I pleasantly surprised. This tool made my day. The sensitivity was just right and we found breakers faster than you’d believe & even helped when investigating in wall problems from previous contractors. You’re product made me a fan, not your marketing. As it should be!

How sweet it is!
Ok picture a car from 2001 with almost 300k miles on it… now imagine the wires in the engine compartment with exposure to salt air for the entire life of the car… this piece of equipment is worth its weight in gold as it save you soooo much time finding breaks in the wires, that it actually makes it economical to fix the shorts/breaks, as opposed to buying a new electrical harness for the car! I only wish I would found this lifesaver before I did!

great product
The only reason for the 4 star is the learning curve.
The wire tracer itself is heavy duty and does its job well.
From what i’ve tried so far I haven’t had any problems with the way it works. It’s much better than the old breaker locators I have used that only worked right when there was a full moon and the wind was blowing just at the right angle. This one really works!
On the bad side it is not fun to learn. The controls seam easy enough but the instruction book is not a great read.
First thing is to download and print the quick start guide and use that otherwise you just want to throw it up on a shelf and forget about it.
It does have some really cool features that i still need to test out. They are the short circuit finder and the open circuit finder. Find out where a sheet rocker put a screw through your wire.
All in all I really like this thing but you will have to put time into learning it.
